Nexus 4 experience – It’s underwhleming

After having used it for little over 3 months , here is my Nexus 4 verdict !

Pros:

  • Pure Android experience , can get OS updates regularly
  • Absolute value for money, impressive specs
  • Blazing fast and loads web pages quickly

Cons:

  • Phone heats pretty quickly while on 3g browsing for little over 20 mins continuously
  • Phone was snappy and didnt hang anytime initially but now, it stucks and freezes now.I have 11 gb of free space and not many apps installed but still phone slows down considerably when accessing some apps. Some times you cant even attend calls as the lock screen does not even unlock.
  • Battery life is below average. I have to keep tab of it to make sure i make it through one full day before charging again.
  • Bluetooth has issues while connecting to the car module randomly.

Verdict : Buy it if you are in US of A or UK where it is being sold so that you can exchange in any case of issues reported above. If you are planning to smuggle it to India , i dont think it is worth the effort !

Abiyum Naanum movie review

Expectations were pretty high , atleast from me , for the team of Radha Mohan and Prakash raj strikes together again. But I felt disappointed after watching the movie. Though the team has to be appreciated for their meaningful and decent cinema , this fails to impress me .

The main reason being the waffer thin story line about an extra cautious dad trying to grow along with his daugther and the problems faced by the dad in seeing his child grow up independently with free thought . The plot is good , there are some interesting and touching moments , but the story is superficial and fails to touch your heart as a whole.

Most importantly , the way how dad ushers love for his daughter is not subtle , indian dads are known for this , but prakash raj’s love  for his daughter is showed too loud and lousy.

The movie is interesting at places , the humour is laced through out the movie beautifully and it has come out well. Some nice worldly , humane thoughts are brought out well.

Prakashraj steals the show but i feel he has over done the role and rest of the crew has nothing great to offer.Songs are a bit let down and dampens the already slow movie’s pace even further.

The movie delivers in parts and on a whole an above average decent flick worth to be watched with family and friends.

Vaaranam Aayiram Movie Review

When Simran runs to help the struggling Surya screaming in a urban english accent ‘What happened ?……...’ in the initial minutes , we are reaffirmed of the fact the movie is niched for a select urban audience who need to prepare themselves for viewing a different genre of movie , a slow saga and breaks all the mirch masala . You would love the movie if your into it with out any pre- conceived notions and expectations about the movie.

Sharing my thoughts which I felt interesting to me .

Gautham is incredible . He’s the next best to Mani Ratnam in handling romance , he’s best in the mush . The Surya – Sameera scenes are truly no words to describe . What a vibrancy and youthfulness ! Let it be the train romance or be the berkely episode , every frame is literally painted like a poem. Can some one other than Gautham think about a gal proposing to an adorable guy standing under the clouds , with a view of the lovely Golden bridge in San Francisco . These should sweep every one by their feet for sure. No way , give credits to this guy . Awesome photography , lovely music and impressive costumes – only gautham can do such wonders .

Surya for sure is incredible . Be the dad or the son , he’s given one hell of a performance . His painstaking effort is evident in every frame , he look worth more than one million bucks .He has taken utmost care in his looks , he fits in as a ‘T’ in almost every make over through his various stages of life. He is able to change himself for the mood of the movie quite easily. His emotional break up to his dad and mom on losing his love through a phone is the best . He should make gals go crazy over those romantic interludes. The portions where he suffers from an emotional break and the way how he comes out of it is quite unusual yet different.

Sameera Reddy , C’mon guys should i say anything more.

Very rarely , we could find an urban family being portrayed in tamil movies. I think those segments were etched out well. .It’s delightful to see a dad being so cool and casual with his son , being a friend , asking his son to follow his heart. How nice a dad calls his son by cute nick name .Even when I was a child , I have seen my neighbors converse very casually in English at home.So the director is not at fault , he has just shown the environment in which he grew up .

The music has really carried out the movie incredibly to new levels . Each and every song is a visual splendor . The Raja’s classical cult is brought out in the most lovable way in the movie. Adiyae Kolluthaey for sure rocks big time . Nenjukkul Peidhidum is actually painted . Mundinam Paarthanae could have been justified better with visuals.Only Gautham has the guts to have a romantic classical in the likes of Anal male panithuli towards the end of movie . Sad , that this is probably the last Gautham – Harris combination.

The dad – son relation ship should have been the most compelling factor of the movie .But these portions were pretty few and lite. There should be been more depth in trying to build up the character of Krishnan and on how be became the role model to his son. This the weak point of the movie , the dad is super uber cool and romantic but some how I felt it lacked depth and the strong bonding with the son wasnt that impressive. Had there been few more lorry and the cricket positive energy episodes , it would have been really nice.

The movie doesn’t advocate ‘No Smoking’ . But it has implicitly brought out very the message well. The movie is for sure a good one , though it could have been better. The movie towards the second half trodden towards unprecedented terrains , it drags a bit but since the movie moves through eventually to a son whose desperate to see his dad .

The movie cannot be termed as one of the classics but it was good attempt though falling short by miles.Movies like this has to be well received so that tamil movies can move to the next level.

Hats off to Gautham for a straight from the heart movie 🙂

Yaaradi Nee Mohini – Review

What a poetic title is what all i could say !  Of course when you have some one like Nayanthara in the movie this gets even prettier and more apt. I wonder how Selvaraghavan is able to come up with such a pretty romantic script with out any sort of eccentricity as his movie is known for.Yaaradi … is a feel good movie,an absolute family entertainer.

The story is pretty simple– boy falls in love with gal — gal denies it coz she already engaged –hero has a friend — and obvious the friend would have been engaged to the gal the boy loved– and finally the friend would give way for love .

But the screen play actually saves the movie for the most part. The humor that has been laced through out is the strong forte of movie.

Danush once again plays the role of a carefree youth, has actually delivered one hell of a performance. Have no words to describe his flawless performance which has the right mix of everything right from humor, body language , dialogs delivery  to showing off emotions.

Nayanthara looks ravishing on the screen .Words should have fallen in place for the lyricist easily when needed to write a song about her beauty. But her performance lacks substance and doesn’t seem to be natural at least in the first half .

The on screen chemistry between the lead pair is actually pretty good.

Sad to see raghuvaran in his last movie , he has excelled in the role. His body language in the movie shows the ailing actor’s health actually. The sweet interludes between  dad and  son is narrated impeccably.

The most pitiest guy in the movie is Karthik who is the friend of Danush engaged to Nayan . Come on people , give him some good roles , he’s capable actor . He again plays the role similar to Alaipayuthaey , Kanda Naal Mudhal.

The music by Yuvan actually lacks the magical touch for a Selva’s movie .Both Yuvan/director has to be beaten right , left and center for having let Udit Narayan sing a song the most horrible way.Alteast teach him tamil for the sake of hopeless soul who are tuning their ears to listen for the songs.

The pick of the album for me is O..Baby , an item song with a strong love feeling .Nice attempt actually. There is one song which i’m not sure whether remixed from yester-year movies , but actually was quite entertaining to watch. All other songs are OK.

The movie has Selva’s touch at places . One instant is when Nayan asks Danush whether her sister looks prettier than her and holding his hand saying ‘Feeling a lot better…’.And the dad-son bonding is actually the second time selva has shown it after 7/G in the most impressive way .What i wished is for more of the romance between the lead pair than getting into the usual family kinda of senti grudge. There are few instances which are quite natural and handled wonderfully but some are superficial and way out of normalcy.

The most anguishing fact is the way how IT environment has been portrayed in the movie. It can’ t get stupid than this . Too much of exaggeration. It actually evokes a loud laughter from the folks who  work for the same.

Another disturbing stuff is the way how the lady love’s character sketched these days in movies. The guy loves a gal , she denies it for some reason . The hero gets overboard over the denial. It’s so disturbing to see the choice of words spoken by these heroes blaming gals for some stupid reasons even when the gal is not reprehensible in anyway .And for how long in tamil movies , the gal changes her mind the previous night of her wedding. Common people gimme a break !

Overall the movie is quite entertaining for the most part.

Strongly recommended to be watched with family 🙂

Taarae Zameen Par – Must Watch

It’s an incredible movie.

People call every movie nowadays a different one but this one truly deserves to be a different one.

Art of story telling has gone to a new level.

Kudos to the script writer Amol Gupta for having crafted such a script with depth and sensibility and the kid who did a tremendous job with his impeccable natural reactions.

Hats off to Aamir, the perfectionist , only he could do wonders like this .

Way to go Aamir!!!

Taarae Zameen Par should stay in our minds for quite a long time.

P.S:I don’t understand Hindi well but yet it spurred my feelings especially in the climax
